Take Action in 2 Ways!
Every adult in Western Australia who enjoys going out to a bar, hotel, club, restaurant or buying takeaway liquor could be locked out of their favourite venue at a time the Government chooses.
Lockouts mean that after a certain time, venues that sell alcohol (including pubs, clubs, restaurants and bottleshops), have to shut their doors and not allow anyone else in. If you are out on the street, you will have nowhere to go except home.
The Government is trying to further control where and how you enjoy your social life. By Christmas, the Government could have the power to forcibly lock anyone out of and to stop anyone from entering their favourite pub, club or restaurant at the time of their choosing, day or night, anywhere in Western Australia.
Lockouts could apply anywhere in WA, including suburban or metropolitan areas and country and regional towns.
The proposed lock out could occur any time of the day or night according to the whim of the Government of the day. The lockout times could also be different for each day of the week.
The Government wants the power to be able to force any venue that sells alcohol (including pubs, clubs, restaurants and bottleshops) to close their door to patrons at time predetermined by the government of the day. In the eastern states, governments have imposed lockout trials without any success as a response to media pressure and reports of anti-social behaviour.
The new laws give the Government the power to issue a declaration making restrictions. Once the restrictions are gazetted, they could have immediate effect and without your support are likely to be in effect in time to kill off Christmas celebrations in WA.
