2025 AHA & Little Creatures WA’s Best Steak Sandwich competition 

It’s time to fire up those grills and show off your steak sandwich skills in this legendary competition, now in its 18th year.


Finalists will be determined via public votes and mystery judge visits throughout the month of May, and the winners decided during an exciting live cook-off at the 2025 AHA Hospitality Expo at Crown Perth on 24 & 25 June 2025. 
 

Four country and four metro finalists will receive secure entry as a semi-finalist in this prestigious  competition, with the ultimate winners crowned live on stage.

What's up for grabs

Exclusive Prizes: Not only will you earn the prestigious title and bragging rights of WA’s Best Steak Sandwich, but winners will also receive four premium tickets to an RAC Arena corporate box, featuring top-tier food and beverages, valued at more than $7,000, courtesy of RAC Arena and AHA(WA).

The winners also receive automatic entry as semi-finalists in the prestigious AHA Hospitality Awards for Excellence “WA’s Best Steak Sandwich” category.

Criteria

The composition of the steak sandwich, recipe and its ingredients must remain the same throughout the competition (from nomination and consumer voting through to final cook-off).

The steak sandwich must be available on the venue’s menu throughout the competition.

Steak is defined as a cut of meat being beef or lamb.

Judging criteria

Steak sandwich finalists are determined using a combination of methods including online votes, judging criteria and mystery judge visits. 

Should your venue be successful in becoming a finalist for the Hospitality Expo cook-off, judging criteria are as follows:

Tenderness of the meat (beef or lamb)

Composition & Presentation

Originality / Creativity

Chips

Sauces

Flavour

Value for money
