About the competition

Each venue’s steak sandwich recipe was required to remain consistent throughout the nomination, voting, and live cook-off phases. The steak sandwich had to be available on the menu during the competition period and featured beef or lamb as the main protein.

Finalists were determined through a combination of public votes, mystery judge visits, and judging criteria, with winners crowned live on stage.

Judging Criteria

Finalists were judged on: tenderness of the meat (beef or lamb), composition and presentation, originality and creativity, quality of accompanying chips, sauces, overall flavour and value for money

Prizes

Winners received four premium tickets to an RAC Arena corporate box experience, featuring top-tier food and beverages, valued at over $7,000, courtesy of RAC Arena and AHA(WA). Each Metro and Country winner also received 10 cartons of McCain chips, thanks to McCain.

Additionally, winners earned automatic entry as semi-finalists in the prestigious AHA Hospitality Awards for Excellence category of “WA’s Best Steak Sandwich.”

Thank you to all venues, judges, voters, and attendees for supporting this iconic celebration of WA’s hospitality creativity and culinary skill.
