The competition is open to venues across Perth Metropolitan and Country WA, with the top entries from each category advancing to the cook-off to be held at the Hospitality Expo. Finalists are determined through a combination of public votes, mystery judge visits and judging criteria.

About the competition
Each venue’s steak sandwich recipe is required to remain consistent throughout the nomination, voting and live cook-off phases. The steak sandwich must be available on the menu during the competition period and feature beef or lamb as the main protein.

Finalists are determined through a combination of public votes, mystery judge visits, and judging criteria, with winners crowned on stage following a live cook-off!
Judging Criteria
Finalists are judged on: tenderness of the meat (beef or lamb), composition and presentation, originality and creativity, quality of accompanying chips, sauces, overall flavour and value for money

Nominations close – 17 March 2026
Voting opens – 24 March 2026
Voting closes – 27 April 2026
Finalists notified – 31 May 2026
