Chef Mikey Phull

The Australian Hotels Association (WA) has announced The Karalee on Preston as the winner of Perth’s Best Steak Sandwich 2017.

Chef Mikey Phull was at the top of his game at Crown Perth on Wednesday afternoon, creating a steak sandwich that blew the judges away, particularly with the addition of crispy pork belly.

As usual the judges were looking for a steak sandwich that displayed superior ‘fangability’, a term used to describe the ease at which one’s teeth can sink into a juicy, succulent and flavoursome steak sandwich.

This year’s judges were Chuck Hahn, Master Craftsman, Lion Beer Australia; Bradley Woods, AHA(WA) CEO; Graeme Butler, Senior Reporter with Today Tonight and Morgen Lewis, CEO, Australia Day Council WA.
