Country WA venues compete on June 25, followed by Perth region on June 26. Who will claim the crown?

How does it work?
Voting is now open!
Encourage your customers to vote to identify the top four Steak Sandwiches for each category, along with visits from mystery judges, based on the judging criteria below. These venues will be invited to cook their famous Steak Sandwich on stage at the AHA Hospitality Expo in front of an audience and our esteemed (and hungry) judges. The judges will then crown the ultimate Steak Sandwich Champions!
Country WA cook-off: Tuesday, 25 June
Perth cook-off: Wednesday, 26 June

Winners receive automatic entry as a semi-finalist in the esteemed AHA Hospitality Awards for Excellence “WA’s Best Steak Sandwich.” Plus, enjoy a VIP prize: four exclusive tickets to comedian Trevor Noah’s live show in one of RAC Arena’s luxurious corporate box. We will promote the competition via our social media channels and PR to encourage traffic to your venue. We will also provide you with materials that you can use to promote your venue and encourage your customers to vote for you. We encourage you to get your teams involved and have a bit of fun drumming up some interest.

Key dates
- Customer voting: 30 April – 27 May
- Finalists announced: 31 May
- Judging of the competition for country WA: 25 June
- Judging of the competition for Perth region: 26 June
Criteria
- The composition of the Steak Sandwich, recipe and its ingredients must remain the same throughout the competition (from nomination and consumer voting through to final cook-off)
- The Steak Sandwich must be available on the venue’s menu throughout the competition
- Steak is defined as a cut of meat being beef or lamb.
Steak Sandwich finalists are determined using a combination of methods including online votes, judging criteria and mystery judge visits.
Should your venue be successful in becoming a finalist for the Hospitality Expo cook-off, judging criteria is as follows:
- Tenderness of the meat (beef or lamb)
- Composition & Presentation
- Originality / Creativity
- Chips
- Sauces
- Flavour
- Value for money
