SYDNEY BUSSELTON DIRECT FLIGHTS TO BOOST HOTELS AND HOSPITALITY VENUES

The Australian Hotels Association (WA) said today that Jetstar’s new direct flights between Sydney and Busselton will create a critical connection between Australia’s largest city and one of the World’s premier tourism regions.

AHA(WA) CEO Bradley Woods said the new flights will see tens of thousands of visitors flow directly into the South West region, supporting the creation of many thousands of jobs and delivering a substantial boost to WA’s visitor economy.

“This historic aviation connection will prove to be a very valuable one for hotels and hospitality venues in the South West, who will benefit from new visitors that will soon be flying directly into Busselton,” Mr Woods said.

“For Sydneysiders, a trip to the famed Margaret River wine region is now just a short flight away, which will be a very attractive option to many.”

“From March next year, tens of thousands of additional visitors will flow into hotels, restaurants, wineries and tourism venues across the South West and experience everything that WA hospitality has to offer.”

“While businesses in Busselton itself will be obvious beneficiaries, visitors will disperse widely and support economic growth right throughout the southern areas of WA.”

“WA’s vastness underscores the importance of securing more direct flights into regional hubs. We commend Australia’s aviation industry, assisted with support from the WA Government, for investing in innovative new flight paths that produce tangible benefits for WA’s hotel and hospitality industry.”
