WA’s Best Accommodation Hotels and Staff

Western Australia’s most outstanding accommodation hotels, resorts and staff were acknowledged at the AHA Accommodation Awards for Excellence.

AHA(WA) CEO, Bradley Woods, said WA should be proud of the high calibre of accommodation offerings across the state, along with the high level of employee dedication and service.

“Our reputation as a premier destination for corporate and leisure travellers is upheld thanks to the commitments and investments made by our hotel industry,” said Mr Woods.

The AHA Accommodation Awards for Excellence highlight WA’s leading hotel venues, their staff, and their commitment to building the State’s reputation as a tourism destination.

“The hotel accommodation industry in Perth and regional WA is focused on delivering an exceptional experience that guests will remember, and return for,” said Mr Woods.

“Now, more than ever, it’s imperative that we support our hospitality industry, and recognise the hard work, investment and long hours put into making WA’s venues outstanding,” Mr Woods concluded.

On Monday 21 August over 500 guests attended the Gala Ball in the Grand Ballroom at Crown Perth. They were treated to a night of red and white elegance, dining on gastronomic delights uniquely created by Crown Perth. They also listened to the stunning vocals of jazz singer, Cathrine Summers. The AHA was pleased to welcome special guests including Federal Finance Minister Senator the Hon. Mathias Cormann and WA’s Minister for Tourism, Hon. Paul Papalia.

The General Manager of Parmelia Hilton Perth, David Constantine, was inducted into the ‘Accommodation Industry Hall of Fame’, and recognised for his 40 years of service to the hotel industry.

Accommodation Industry Hall of Fame

The 2017 inductee into the Accommodation Industry Hall of Fame is David Constantine, General Manager, Parmelia Hilton Perth.

David Constantine has dedicated over 40 years to the hotel industry.

David commenced his career in 1976 in the UK as an Assistant Front Office Manager with one of the world’s most recognised luxury hotel brands, Hilton. He has met countless celebrities, many Lords, Ladies and Ambassadors, and the occasional King and Prime Minister. 1977 was Queen Elizabeth’s silver jubilee year, an exciting time to be working in London.

In 1979 David was offered the opportunity to move to Australia to join the Hilton Sydney as Front Office Manager. David then joined the regional team as Regional Front Office Trainer for Hilton Australia.

In 1980 he moved to Perth as Front Office Manager and was soon promoted to Executive Assistant Manager. In 2004 this leader became Director of Business Development and in 2011 accepted the promotion to General Manager of Parmelia Hilton Perth.

David’s team says he’s fun to work with, is a good communicator, leads by example and is fair and honest. 25% of his team has worked with him for over 10 years, a testament to this GM’s leadership.

David has been on the Board of the Perth Convention Bureau since 2013.

Secretly, David loves to perform at the hotel’s team member Christmas parties and has starred as Bjorn from ABBA, impersonated Robert Palmer singing, “Addicted to Love” and had the lead role in “All that Jazz”.

In 2016 Hilton President & CEO Chris Nassetta presented David with his 40 years of service award to a standing ovation from his peers.
