Welcome to Australian Hostels Association, WA

The latest official tourism visitation data has provided evidence that the McGowan Government is delivering on its promise to drive tourists into WA.

Australian Hotels Association (WA) CEO Bradley Woods said the latest National Visitor Survey (NVS) results for the year ending March 2019 reveals Western Australia has secured a record number of visitors from interstate, who spent a record amount of money.

“The McGowan Government in collaboration with the Commonwealth through Tourism Australia, has proven that if WA collaborates on a national level we can achieve record breaking results in visitation,” Mr Woods said.

“Interstate visitation, expenditure and nights spent in WA all experienced double digit growth. The data also showed intrastate holiday trips increasing by 16.3 per cent and associated expenditure rising by 21.7 per cent.”

“This is good news for WA’s accommodation, tourism and hospitality industry and follows the recent international visitation data which showed a record number of visitors coming to WA for a holiday.”

“After a number of trying years there are signs that the effort, investment and policy development that has gone into boosting tourism visitation to WA is clearly paying off.”

“In an increasingly competitive global tourism industry, our hotels and hospitality venues rely on Governments to ensure ongoing and concerted efforts are made to entice new and returning visitors to Western Australia.”

“The State Government’s Two Year Action Plan, which was launched 16 months ago by Tourism WA, is clearly producing results and underscores the importance of delivering a detailed, well-resourced tourism strategy.”

“Delivering consistent increases in visitor numbers produces direct benefits for WA’s hotels, hospitality businesses and their staff, helping create more employment and training opportunities for local Western Australians.”
